Integrative medicine combines conventional and complementary medicine to help people with chronic and complex diseases achieve optimal well-being.
Conventional medicine, commonly referred to as western medicine, is symptom focused and treats patients using pharmaceuticals and in some cases, surgery. Complementary medicine includes therapies such as Naturopathy, Reiki, Acupuncture and many more.
How can integrative medicine help you?
Integrative medicine recognises that all our body systems are interconnected, and so evaluates the client as a whole and focuses on healing the mind, body and spirit, usually through a combination of therapies.
The principles of integrative medicine are:
The client and practitioner are equal partners, with the client having input into the healing process
Natural and less invasive protocols are preferred
Focus on mindset, emotions, and spiritual hygiene as well the physical body
Tailor the protocol to the individual’s condition and needs
Promote healthy behaviours and self-care techniques to allow the client to remain in remission and therefore disease-free
Include multiple therapies to encourage the body’s innate ability to heal itself
Integrative medicine can be used alongside conventional medicine, to minimise the side effects of the drugs and to promote healing all over, helping to maximising treatment outcomes.
What ailments can integrative medicine help with?
