UNDERACTIVE THYROID AND HASHIMOTOS

“I am all too familiar with the weight loss resistance that goes hand in hand with thyroid dysfunction.  I am here to tell you that it is possible to lose weight with hypothyroidism.”

The Functional Nutritionist

Nutritional therapy for thyroid conditions

About 90% of all underactive thyroid conditions have an autoimmune element. This is where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland, impairing its function and its ability to produce thyroid hormones. Hashimoto’s is the most common form of an underactive thyroid condition, or hypothyroidism.

Nutritional therapy can help. From a functional medicine perspective, it’s important to identify the root cause of thyroid dysfunction, including Hashimoto’s. This could be one or a combination of many factors.

I will investigate and address the following:

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Stress

  • Sleep hygiene

  • Food intolerances and sensitivities

  • Gut health

  • Viral, bacterial, and yeast and infections

  • Toxins

  • Detoxification

My goal is to optimize thyroid function through a protocol that factors in nutrition, stress management, mindset and emotional resilience.
